Getting Around Rome

If you decided to visit the Eternal City, GoRome.it suggests you how to move easily and rapidly in Rome. Like in all the big metropolis, getting around Rome with a private vehicle can be quite difficult because of the intense urban traffic and the complex morphology of the city. That’s why the use of public transport is recommended.

Rome Subway

...................................................................................
The subway lines are only two: Line A travels from north-west to south-east of the city, while Line B goes from north-east to south-west. The two lines intersect in the heart of the city at Termini Station. If you buy a tourist ticket you can travel with no limitation for three days on all the public transports of Rome municipality. As an alternative you can buy a daily ticket which allows you to travel on all the transports until midnight of the same day.

Rome Buses

...................................................................................
If you decided to visit the main Rome tourist sites, the best way to move from one place to another is by bus, even if it can be most stressful because transports are not always on time. Most of buses start their duty at 5 and finish at midnight, but you will also find enough night buses. You can use your bus ticket also on the other public transports of Rome municipality such as subway, tram, trolley-buses and regional trains of Met.Ro lines.

Rome Taxis

...................................................................................
To find a free taxi in Rome is not always that easy. For this reason it is better going to the nearest taxi stop, or alternatively call one by phone. Be careful to unauthorized taxi drivers that have no licence and apply fares that are not always much equal. Anyway, even if you take an authorized taxi, prices will never be restrained, particularly for routes from/to the city centre from/to Fiumicino airport.

Rome on Foot

...................................................................................
Probably the best way to discover Rome is to move around on foot. Anyway it is better to know that the huge dimensions of the city and the intense traffic do not make it always possible, and sometimes it is necessary to take public transports.
